Scotland's capital Edinburgh has so much to offer. It is the second most populous city in the United Kingdom and has many associations with both past and present. The city's historical and cultural attractions have made it the second most popular tourist destination in the United Kingdom, with over one million overseas visitors each year. There is so much to see and do in Edinburgh, that it is impossible to visit everything in one visit. Perhaps one of the easiest ways to view the city is on an Edinburgh Bus Tour. There are numerous different tours you can get and some offer a hop-on-hop-off policy allowing you to get off it if there is anything you want to explore further.

If it is history of the city that you are after, The National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle, Palace of Holyrood House, St Giles Cathedral and the University of Edinburgh are all excellent places to visit. For the slightly braver of you out there why not see the history of the city in a slightly more grusome way. The Edinburgh Dungeon is an 80 minute journey that takes you through 1000 years of history. Come face to face with the sinister characters in the fully themed experience and pass through the Caves of Galloway, plague ravaged closes and the fearsome torture chamber in this must see attraction.

Why not taste Scotland and visit the Scotch Whiskey Experience, where you can take a ride through a replica distillery and become part of the whisky making process. Don't be put off this experience if you are travelling with children, as it is a great day out for all and after you have finihsed the tour, you can have some lunch in the restaurant within the vicinity. There are plenty of things to do in Edinburgh with your children. Edinburgh Zoo is a brilliant child friendly attraction and if you love the outdoors, why not take your family and climb Arthur's seat, the peak of hills that surround Holyrood Park.

If you want to do a spot of shopping in Edinburgh, be sure to visit the Old Town and the Royal Mile, a sucession of streets that formed the main thoroughfare of the Old Town. Whether you want designer, high street or a bargain, there are places for everyone. When you have finished exploring the city, realx in one of Edinburghs many inviting restauraunts and bars.
